Abstract

Mixed DNA samples of two or more people are important physical evidence in criminal proceedings. However, there are serious issues with how the data from these DNA mixtures have been interpreted by crime laboratories. Cybergenetics TrueAllele® provides an objective computer approach for resolving complex mixtures to produce accurate DNA match statistics. This talk uses the Darryl Pinkins exoneration to describe the DNA mixture problem, the TrueAllele solution, and how defenders can use this established technology to vigilantly safeguard the rights of the accused.
