Serial rapist found guilty in first New York trial using TrueAllele

Elmira, NY

Casey Wilson, a 25 year old Elmira man, was found guilty of rape, burglary and other charges following a jury trial in Chemung County Court for separate attacks on two women.

Trial testimony included the sexual assault victims, Elmira police investigators, and forensic scientists from the New York State Police. Dr. Mark Perlin of Cybergenetics in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania testified about TrueAllele® computer interpretation of the DNA evidence. Dr. Perlin described how three person DNA mixtures statistically matched Mr. Wilson, a victim and someone else.

The weeklong trial was the first New York case to use Cybergenetics TrueAllele Casework in court. The jury reached its verdicts after less than an hour of deliberation. Wilson faces up to 40 years in prison.
