Gun from armed robbery connected to suspect

Crime A series of multi-jurisdictional robberies occurred in Montgomery County, PA. On December 22, 2024, a Kohl’s was held up at gunpoint by two individuals. An off duty Lower Merion Detective thwarted the armed robbery. The suspects fled the scene.
Evidence Detectives located a a firearm and magazine near the scene and collected these items as evidence.
DNA A private laboratory developed the DNA data from the firearm evidence.
Match The laboratory concluded that the the evidence data were unsearchable mixtures.
TrueAllele On the same data, the TrueAllele Investigative Database identified a DNA match between the evidence items and suspect Zaire Ransom-Nelson. The reported TrueAllele inclusionary match statistics were 651 thousand (firearm) and 15.8 thousand (magazine).
Cybergenetics    On April 8, 2026, Cybergenetics analyst Kari Danser testified before a Montgomery County jury about the TrueAllele DNA results.
Outcome The jury found Zaire Ransom-Nelson guilty of all armed robbery charges related to the Kohl’s robbery.
