Forensic DNA technology has become very successful at finding and convicting criminals. However, the public's expectations for further success may entail increasing the DNA caseload by a factor of ten, with a similar order of magnitude increase in the number of samples processed per case. Of these stages of processing forensic DNA, two are already fully automated (extraction and data generation). Stage four (reporting the results to the criminal justice system) is best left to skilled scientists, since this step entails considerable judgment and extensive interactions with people.
Cybergenetics TrueAllele® technology provides a completely automated solution to stage three of the DNA process: analysis and interpretation of the data for casework and databanking.
